Key Information

Koh Bon Island is located within the Similan National Park. This tour is mainly recommended for advanced/experienced divers. Generally good visibility, often strong current and greater depths and encounters with large marine life characterize this site. Open Water Divers with less than 10 logged dives may join the trip with a private dive guide only or do the PADI Deep Adventure dive on the tour. Trial dives are not possible here.

This tour is available from October 15 to May 15, every Wednesday and Sunday.

It’s a longer day, starting around 6 AM from the resorts and returning to your accommodation around 7 PM. Please see the schedule below.

About the Dive Sites

The Western Ridge is the most popular dive site at Koh Bon Island. The main attractions are the oceanic manta rays and occasional passing of reef or leopard sharks. The luckiest divers may spot a whale shark or other pelagic on this site. The first dive usually starts from the bay and heads to the ridge.

Around the ridge, at depths of 10-30 meters, the current is usually stronger, which is why mantas are often seen here. While manta encounters are not guaranteed, when present, they are likely to appear in this area. These mantas can grow up to 6-7 meters and are generally unbothered by the presence of divers. If there are no mantas, the reef’s marine life is impressive, including schools of mackerel and snapper, octopuses, reef sharks, and Napoleon wrasses.

The second dive usually begins from the north and also ends in the vicinity of the western ridge. This allows for an equal chance of a once-in-a-lifetime manta experience on both dives.
