Phuket primarily experiences two seasons: dry and rainy. The dry season runs from November to mid-May. During the driest months, from January to April, daytime temperatures range from 30-35°C.

From the end of October to mid May is the ideal time for in water activities along the western coast, with minimal waves. Therefore, swimming, snorkeling and diving is the best at this time of the year. The seawater remains warm at 28-30°C throughout the year.

The period between April and June is the hottest. These two weather diagrams below illustrate the annual temperature and rainfall distribution. Nighttime temperatures rarely drop below 25°C, so you will wear a hoodie in air-conditioned places and vehicles only.

When Should You Travel to Phuket?

Due to Phuket’s weather, the most popular time to visit is from November to mid-May. This is the high season when most tourists arrive on the island. We recommend the period between mid-January and late April as the best time to visit during the high season. From mid-December to mid-January, flight and accommodation prices are at their highest due to the European winter holidays.

In contrast, the summer months offer the most budget-friendly options for accommodation and other services on the island. If you plan to stay for an extended period, this is the most economical choice. Among the summer months, we particularly recommend July and August.

When Is the Best Time for Diving?

Diving is possible year-round, but some national parks are only open from mid-October to mid-May. This is the high season for diving as well. Similan and Surin Islands National Parks, as well as Hin Daeng-Hin Muang, are closed during the summer months, meaning no tours are available during this time.

For the best diving and weather conditions, visit us between January to May. However, there are protected dive sites year-round, such as Racha or Phi Phi Islands, which are suitable for diving even in less favorable weather.

During the rainy season, when larger weather systems pass near Phuket, there may be instances where boats are not allowed to leave the port due to rough seas and poor weather conditions. These periods usually last 2-3 days.
